I Voted” freebies: Thanks but no thanks

Suggestion Box

We couldn’t help but notice the large number of early voting stations placed in shopping areas such as grocery stores and malls this year. We also noticed that chains such as Starbucks were giving out free coffee on election day for voters.

Given the sad state of our economy, here’s our suggestion for those grocery stores and malls: Next time, why not offer discounts in your stores for anyone sporting the “I Voted” sticker? At a time when people would rather vote than shop, why not make that your marketing, uh, campaign?
