Game plan

Locals The Day After featured in new video game

Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and … The Day After? Not the most likely musical combination, yet all three have been tapped for the forthcoming PopStar Guitar video game, available for Wii and PlayStation 3 systems November 18.

“From what I understand, it’s based on the game Guitar Hero,” geared toward a younger gamer, TDA bassist KC Wells explains. “How we got on it, I don’t know, especially a song called ‘Car Crash.’ I’m not sure exactly how that’s going to go over with the kiddies.” No matter, because with acts such as Blink-182, Good Charlotte and Maroon 5 also in the game, the exposure can only help The Day After when its new album drops in early 2009.

“We’re kind of interested to see if we can actually play our song on the game,” Wells says. “We probably won’t be able to do it, because it’s a different way of playing.”

No word at press time whether PopStar Guitar will allow for customized avatars of singer/guitarist Jenine Cali, drummer Daniel Kloza or Wells with his signature nail polish and eyeliner.
