Like the more heralded Fleet Foxes and Blitzen Trapper, this modern So-Cal five-piece is steeped in bygone radio rock. Except that instead of worshipping CSNY, Fleetwood Mac and The Beatles, The Shys sound bred on Billy Squier, Def Leppard and The Beatles. Call it arena rock for 20-somethings who’ve outgrown My Chemical Romance.
