Bringing it all together (8/7/08)

Imagine the Las Vegas Valley’s cultural entities all under one web-based roof. That’s the goal of the nonprofit Metro Arts Council, which unveiled the prototype for its web portal at a party Monday night. Designed by Los Angeles-based Civic Resource Group, the portal will feature a mapping function, a master calendar (click on a day and every cultural agency’s events are listed), user ratings, blogs and much more.

Metro Arts Council plans to launch the portal next year, with the goal of having its member agencies maintain the site. “I’m excited about it,” says Springs Preserve Director Andrew Schuricht, who sits on the council’s planning committee. “This is one of the critical pieces that’s really missing for the cultural community in the Valley. I think this is going to be huge.”
