Dealing with his own fate

Former Escape the Fate lead singer Ronnie Radke wants to let the world know he’s not a monster—just a guy with karma issues

Ronnie Radke in his Metro mug shot.

For all that’s been said and written about former Escape the Fate lead singer Ronnie Radke, the 24-year-old has a certain zeal in his voice. “It feels good to have someone to vent to,” he says with a laugh from his 12-by-14-foot cell in High Desert State Prison, about 25 miles north of Las Vegas. Since he and his former band broke out of the city’s music scene in 2006, Radke has been called a lot of things—rock star, junkie, killer and, most recently, fugitive. That one came after he bailed out on his probation and the suspended 18- to 48-month prison sentence stemming from the now-infamous May 2006 fight that left 18-year-old Michael Cook dead and co-combatant Michael Colquitt injured. Radke was convicted of battery with substantial bodily harm.

But no one has really wanted to hear his side of the story, Radke says, and in his first exclusive interview since his January sentencing and subsequent imprisonment, Radke speaks out about the fight, his capture, his battle with drugs, the fans and his ultimate search for redemption.

Take me through June 15, the day you were taken into custody.

[The Nevada Parole and Probation Department] put me on the news for a probation violation, but they said it was a parole violation, but it wasn’t. I mean, it got all fucked up; they said that I had been involved in murder, and they brought Michael Cook’s family on TV … and for the media and the public to see that, it was devastating. So I got picked up right after Father’s Day. The police … tapped my phone, and they tricked me into going out for something, and they had all these undercover cars and a helicopter in the air, and that’s how they got me.

You were sentenced to probation for the fight. Why did you abscond?

The courts gave me a recipe for disaster. They said I’d have to pay $93,000 in restitution, $30 a month to the probation officers, $30 a month to a drug counselor, $30 a month for impulse-control, and I’m not allowed to tour with my band, and I’d have to get a real job. So I said, “Fuck you.” I mean, what else was I supposed to do? I even tried to get a job as a bartender, but I have a felony, so they didn’t give me my sheriff’s card. So I tried, but with the drugs piling onto me and with the depression getting so much worse, there’s only so much a person can take.

The homicide report claims you were in total anguish over the fight and the killing of Cook. With that said, why do you think you were the only one left holding the bag, charged and ultimately convicted for the fight that got Cook killed?

Because of my fame. I mean, my friend [Chase Rader, who fired his gun at Cook] saved my life, dude, and I don’t think he deserves any jail time, either. Yeah, of course we [Radke and Chase and Joe Rader] went there to fight, but … they started it … and if it wasn’t for [Radke’s longtime friend] Maxwell Greene, that fight would never have happened. I mean, I always stick up for Max, he’s a smaller guy, and I’d always be his bigger brother, you know, people would have to come through me first to get to him. But [brothers Michael and Marcel Colquitt, who had been threatening to beat up Greene until Radke intervened] started calling me and harassing me, saying they were going to come to my house and murder me. Then they started calling me “pussy” and this and that if I don’t show up to fight them. So I go there … and they had about 12 people with them, and we had four people. They ran up, pulled a gun out, fired it, my friend Joe Rader grabbed the gun, [Chase’s] gun went off three more times, and Chase gets self-defense, and that’s how I get stuck with the bag. [Editor’s note: Police reports differ slightly on the specifics of this incident.]

Ronnie Radke with Escape the Fate in better days.

Ronnie Radke with Escape the Fate in better days.

Does it kind of piss you off that Chase wasn’t brought up on any charges?

I’m just glad he didn’t get murdered, because you can only imagine how much worse it could have been.

You and new ETF singer Craig Mabbitt were once friends. How upset were you about the band’s decision to hire him after firing you?

Mabbitt was burrowing himself within the band … while trying to avoid me. And he’s not better than me. I’d fucking tear him up, and I’d tear him up onstage. I mean, look at him now versus before [when he was in Arizona hardcore band blessthefall]. He looks exactly like I did; he even wears his little flavor-saver moustache like me. I mean, come on. He went from little emo kid to hair-metal boy or whatever you’d call it.

With the band moving on, you’re writing music in prison, right?

Oh my God, man, there’s a storm coming. Here’s was what was supposed to go on. On July 19, I was supposed to fly to Virginia to record an album with ex-member Omar Espinosa. I was supposed to join a band with Espinosa, and the producer is pissed because he paid for the tickets, and then I end up on the news. [When I get out] I already have a band name, and I already have a band. I mean, I was supposed to record the album, and it sucks. I mean, that’s what hurts the most … But as soon as I get out, and the label Epitaph said if I stay off of drugs, they’ll drop the album for me. Everyone thinks that because I was kicked out of the band that I’m off the label automatically. I signed a fucking contract, and they tell me that since I signed a contract, no matter what I do, they own it.

What is your average daily routine in jail?

Well, I make three shanks a day [laughs]. I’m just kidding. No, no, it’s not as crazy as you’d think. I mean, my cellmate, Lucky, well, he has life, and he’s maybe the most insightful person I’ve met, and I’ve learned more in here than I ever have before. I mean, it’s not like what you see on TV and shit. I mean, sure, there are dark places you go, but those are for the idiots and the people who have no common sense. My routine is basically, I wake up, they pop the door, go to breakfast at 4 or 5 o’clock in the morning, come back, go back to my cell, wait about an hour, come back out, then there’s tier time, where you’re inside hanging out, and yard time, where you go out, hang out, play some basketball, do some push-ups, smoke some cigarettes and play handball, which is a really fun game, go back to your cell, go to dinner, get your mail, and that’s your normal day.

How many letters a week would you say you get from fans?

Probably 100 to 120.

Have you run into any fans in prison?

You know, the first day I’m in here, I’m nervous, and I get approached by this guy Shannon in the yard, and he asks if my name is Ronnie. And I’m like yeah, and he said his daughter wrote him to ask if he was in prison with me. Then I had a couple of other people who I had to sign their kids’ pictures and write a couple of other people letters, so I would say I got kind of a status in here, and a lot of people in here got my back, and I don’t have to really watch over my back every second.

What about the drugs?

I was approved for a drug rehabilitation program here in prison because I straight up said, “I have a drug problem, and if you just put me in the open, with the drug, I don’t want to fuck up.” So they’ll be sending me to this drug program, and I’ll only have six months left.

Are you afraid of being hurt or killed in prison?

You can smell death when you walk onto the yard. There are guys watching you with shotguns, and if you even pick a rock off of the ground, they’ll shoot you. Right when you get to the yard, it’s automatically crack, break or man up. You either have a mental breakdown or you be a man.

Do you feel that by going to jail you will have atoned for your sins?

You know, that’s my karma, man. I don’t deserve to be in here for the crime that was charged to me. I deserve to be in here for the things I’ve done to other people. Saying that, it makes me feel good.

Just so everyone knows..... this article says that the police report tells a slightly different story....but in reality its ALOT different. I don't know why you guys are even giving him an opportunity to do interviews. Hes all ready getting special treatment on a daily basis in jail...I'm sure he will be more than willing to do them when he gets out. Just let him experience jail like everyone else does.

OH and his probation was nothing like that.... yea he had to go to the classes and pay restitution (over his lifetime) but it said nothing about not going on tour or having to get a "real" job

I see Ronnie is still delusional & lying through his teeth. He is a drug addict. It amazes me how he continues to blame Max for his lies & screw ups. How could this publication even print a story coming from Ronnie's mouth? Yes your friend Chase is awesome. Your great friend Chase whose was just arrested AGAIN, whose house was raided & a recovery of numerous guns & heavy drugs were found. Yea Ronnie, great friends you have. Why don't all of you learn a lesson. Clean up your acts. You all live in such denial & blame everyone else instead of taking responsibility for your own actions. That is what drugs do. And I have no doubt when Ronnie gets out, he will continue on the exact path he was on before the arrest. Don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth people! Chase murdered that boy. Shot him how many times? That boy was unarmed when Chase fired the first shot. Ronnie was the instigator of the whole scene. Keep telling those lies Ronnie. It will get you real far in life.

As someone who was there through all of this with ronnie, i can assure you he is telling the truth.. I don't blame those for there negativity, ronnie was far from the perfect friend to some people, however he manned up and has admitted his faults and and his problems.. So many feel the need to bash ronnie no matter what.. yes he has messed up quite a bit, but when is enough.. he is in PRISON for gods sake.. I bet those who are commenting and saying that Ronnie is just lying have never been locked up.. So who are they to judge.. We have kept in close contact with ronnie throughout all this.. we were at his trial where the judge (not reports made by other people) but the judge himself and attorneys stated that radke was to have a job, yet they gave no way of him getting one, a "real" one at least.. and because of his probation he was not allowed to leave.. So you tell me, if nikki sixx or steven tyler or anyone of that nature who has never done anything but music and that is who they are.. how are they supposed to go get a "normal" job.. I would love to see nikki sixx working as a bagger at Vons, but could you imagine how freaked out the old people would be at that dark haired tattood degenerate.. uhm, yah... So to "in the middle" maybe you should get out of the middle of this if you have nothing good to say.. remember what thumper's mom told him in Bambi?? ..

he does have a band ready, a name and has written many songs.. so get ready ronnie fans, and haters for that matter.. you are in for a great ride..

Team Radke ... we love you ronnie..

Here is a little info from the minutes at Ronnie's sentencing. Do you see the part about the court wanting parole and probation to work with his tour schedule??

Go here and search Ronald Radke....go to calender...and click the highlighted yes.

http://courtgate.coca.co.clark.nv.us/Dis...

Defendant was advised that probation is a one time offer in this Dept., if he does not follow the conditions listed above, he will be revoked and sent to prison. COUNT 2 STAYED.

Due to Defendant's being a musician, this Court is desirous of Parole and Probation working with Defendant as to his tour schedule.

Wow, looks like an "OLD FRIEND" of Ronnie's found this interview.

grow up.

Why are you so jealous of someone who is in prison?

Posted by: RollerOfEyes on 10/18/08 at 4:01 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Ronnie Radke isn't a saint. He is a person who made a mistake and wants a second chance. In my opinion he doesn't need a second chance for something he was wrongly convicted of, however I am sure there are things he desires absolution for. It is absolutely absurd that people would leave degrading comments about him on here! If you don't care how he is doing why would you even "waste" your time reading and interview with him? Every one is entitled to their own point of view, so for lack of better words, stop being so f***ing stupid with your comments. For some one who isn't a enthusiast, you seem pretty damn obsessed with Ronnie's life!

I'm speaking here as a person who has gone through rehab for several addictions, including heroin and alcohol, as well as having been charged with ABH (actual bodily harm).
But due to my young age at the time (13-16) and the fact that I was working through my problems voluntarily, I was not placed in a detention centre for an extended time.
Everyone who reads this should take into account that anyone who goes into prison coming from a known position outside the walls is going to be treated differently. There is no way around it, no way to ignore it, and no way to change it, so please don't use that as an argument for taking a negative stance on him.
As for him being a bad person, I can't judge that, only speak from the changes in my personality that happened when I was an addict. It changes you in ways that you cannot imagine unless you have woken up each morning needing a dose of a chemical to keep you at the place where you're not feeling insane. So please, do not judge him as a bad person because of that.
If you are to judge someone for something like this, you have to have been able to experience their situation (and I'm not taking pity on him for this, I'm simply referring to it as his situation because it is his) and then you can make an accurate shot at it.
Otherwise, you're just judging out of opinion, not out of knowledge, and that is a sin in every religion.
Good luck to Ronnie with fixing himself, coming out of prison, and resolving everything with everyone involved.

Ohkay, ya know what, i'm for one pretty pissed right now! All of you write these stupid comments judging him for everything he's ever done! Like you've never done anything wrong?! He did have to get a "normal" job & in basically this entire paragraph he's telling the truth! You people just can't except his side of the story cuz you've decided that he's a "bad" person! And the special treatment in jail thing...WTF?! It's JAiL! He's doing his time just like everybody else! You're all saying about how he's gonna be exactly the same when he comes out, i wouldn't mind that cuz well, i'm a fan, but in the same sense, you don't know what he's gonna be like when he comes out, i don't know what hes gonna be like when he comes out, NOBODY KNOWS BUT HiM! Give the guy a break it's hard being in jail, especially when your famous! The reason it's hard is because of the people like you guys, the ones leaving stupid F.ucked up comments on his interview about all this sh!t! Saying stuff like that he shouldnt have even been allowed to be interviewed?!?!?! WHAT iS WRONG WiTH YOU PEOPLE?! Everyone deserves to express their opinion & share their side of the story!!!! And he wasn't allowed to go on tour! That's true! LOOK iT UP!!!! You all just need to learn to except people! How would you like it if someone judged you as harshly as your judging him! EVERYONE MAKES MiSTAKES!! PREiSTS MAKE MiSTAKES!!!! Even PASTORS SiN!! When will u all stop hating on Ronnie/etf? It is so freakin annoying to log in on myspace to see someone else is starting crap. Ronnie made mistakes he isnt perfect. I made mistakes Im not perfect and neither are any of u bashing Ronnie or etf. Who actually knows if Ronnie is actually telling the truth or Max is. There are 3 sides to every story. The truth and Max's truth and Ronnies truth. God I read the comments everyone leaves on all the Ronnies myspace and all of escape the fates personals myspace. I cant believe someone will say that they are Ronnies fan but then they tell him to keep running and when he gets caught they hate him and want nothing to do with him. This is pointless bullcrap drama. Doesnt anyone have lives outside of etf and Ronnie. Hmm Now I understand why Randi wrote what she did and why she didnt want to say were she heard this at. God Grow up. Ronnie grow up. I am 18 and I am more grown up than most adults. God it is so freakin stupid. Stop bashing people. Take credit for ur actions. No he doesnt deserve to sit behind bars because of not pulling a trigger for someone elses mistake but it happened its life. God when will all this end as I told some people throw comments on myspace. I have my life to live and dont have time to deal with this. i have my drama and senior year to get throw. Grow up and everyone live it be. If u hate my opinion fine go fall on ur face somewhere. I am sick of it all of it.

Peace, Britt

They were best friends and it's none of our business to f*cking judge or get into!!!!!!!! I mean i freaking love Max and i just met him on tour. He is an awesome guy. I love Ronnie and I'm a true fan. I'm gonna stick with him through everything. The band is not the same. and i just wish none of this has happened. Everyone deserves second chances. You don't know what it's like to be on drugs so F off. he cant help it. You don't f*ckin know what he will be like after. YOU'RE NOT HIM SO SHUT UP!!! He will do what he is meant to do, ALRIGHT???? yeah he shouldn't blame everything on max but still. F*CK YOU ALL! YOU DON'T KNOW IF HE IS LYING! you hear rumors and RIGHT there it's true. F*cking GROW UP. when his new band comes out imma be listening and doing the best i can to be a good fan. i love Ronnie Radke, Max Greene, Robert Ortiz, Monte Money, AND EVEN Craig Mabbitt. noo im more of a fan to Ronnie then Craig cause RONNIE HELPED MAKE THIS BAND! but they needed a new singer for the fans. so GOOD LUCK TO ESCAPE THE FATE AND RONNIE! before reading this i fully thought max was innocent and the good fair guy and that ronnie was getting what he deserved and that he was the bad guy. however now im not sure because of the things ronnie has said about max like him giving ronnie drugs on tours after ronnies tried to quit or that max punched omar and wanted to kill him, what was that all about. im wondering whether ronnie is telling the truth i wonder if max really is fake and pretends to be the nice one. or is max telling the truth and ronnie hating on him, well i dont know but if i had one wish it would truly be i wish i knew who is telling the truth, max or ronnie. i use to feel ashamed of ronnie and sorry for max but now i dunno. its so hard to tell whether ronnies telling the truth or not and i keep wondering is max what i thought he was or is he a fake. well if etf or ronnie are reading this id just like to say no matter what the truth is you all deserve a second chance and i wish all 6 of you well (max, ronnie, craig, bryan, robert and omar) and hope this all blows over some day. good luck for the future ronnie and escape the fate, rock on!!

Posted by: escapingthefate on 10/24/08 at 3:41 a.m. (Suggest removal)

i also wonder about what ronnie said about craig, i wonder if craig was trying to steal ronnies position if he did im not happy but i actually hope all the stuff said about craig and max especially wasnt true cos that would suck big time if max was the culprit as ronnie put it

Posted by: escapingthefate on 10/24/08 at 3:53 a.m. (Suggest removal)

alright first of all ronnie is NOT telling the whole truth. max was not involved in most of this. yes he was involved in some but not all. max never gave ronnie the drugs. ronnie found the dealers and max bought them 'cause ronnie doesnt have anything at the moment. if u dont believe me go onto
http://escapethefate.net/news/june08/etf...
its max's interview and i believe everything he said. oh, yea, by the way, all of the band members quit because of ronnie. omar stayed out of the band. it was onloy max and ronnie left. max had no choice but to kick ronnie out. then robert (drummer) and Bryan (guitarist) re-joined the band again and then they got craig.
But dont get me wrong, I LUV RONNIE TO DEATH. HE'S TEN TIMES (no offence craig) BETTER THAN CRAIG! I LUV RONNIE AND I WISH ALL OF THIS NEVER HAPPENED.
but you know what, stop pissing off on Max! he was the friggin' co-founder of the band!
you know ronnie named the band Escape the Fate because he escaped HIS fate, i dont think his fate then can be worse than it is now.

omg i will wait for you! i can not wait for your new music. you dont even kno how much i love him. but fuk creig and max. they arent even good. Their music has changed and they are trying to make it better but they fu.ckin make it worse! i mean come on they made the gullotine II and it sucked ass. i can see creig is dressing like ronnie tho. but go ronnie for sticking up for your self! Go Ronnie for being sobber, and world, FUC.KIN GET READY FOR THE NEW RONNIE RADKE! :P

OK im not that obsessed but it felt good to write all that. :D

Someone posted a link to this interview in a reply to a question I made on Yahoo! Answers and I followed it because I wanted to read Ronnie's side of the story. I do feel sorry for Ronnie, he didn't pull the gun or the gun's trigger and he didn't kill that man in the fight yet he was sentenced to four years in prison after he violated his probation. But I'm not sure if I believe that the Las Vegas police tricked him into violating his probation, honestly it seems like a load of bullcrap. I also do feel sorry for him because he did have a drug problem.

However, I do agree that Ronnie's voice was better suited for Escape the Fate then Craig's, but Craig's voice is good too. A bass voice is just better for Escape the Fate. However, I hold no hate to Escape the Fate for replacing Ronnie. The way I see it, EtF had two options:

A) Breakup the band: Just like Ronnie, the rest of the members of Escape the Fate are musicians too. Do you think that they could just go out and get "real" jobs? I know Ronnie had more of a disadvantage the rest of the band because of his criminal charges, but still the other members probably would have hard time too. I mean music is all they know, right? And I doubt that Escape the Fate could still bring in money without a lead singer. I don't think that EtF could put their careers on hold until Ronnie was released, the members would have to go on to find new acts to "pay the bills."

B) Get a new lead singer.

Look. Craig is a good singer. My high school music teacher told me that a tenor voice is much less common with men but tenor singers usually get farther in musical careers. Maybe he's wrong and maybe he's right. I don't know. But Craig is good, I haven't heard him sing in any other band besides Escape the Fate and blessthefall and, as far as I know, most people haven't either so how would they know if "Craig was only good in blessthefall" or not when he's only sung in two bands? He's not suited for Escape the Fate, but that doesn't make him a bad singer.

I know that Craig changed his look a lot when he joined Escape the Fate, but how could you know for certain if he didn't do that to "fit in" with EtF. Maybe he changed to look like Ronnie, maybe he changed his look to fit in, no one really knows. And why would you hate Max? I honestly don't see why anyone would hate him?

personally, i love ronnie. i believe that he's very talented but at the same time very mixed up. he obviously does have problems as we can all see in this interview but some of you are taking it too seriously. yes, ronnie made mistakes but we all do. and yes, he should be in jail and rehab but that makes sense for what he has done. but then there are quite a few people on here who feel the same as me. someone above me said, 'as if you've never done something wrong'. we've all done wrong things but most of them haven't taken us into jail. i can't wait for him to get out. i can't wait to hear his music. i miss him so much. i hate craig and i'm open about it. i hate him. i hate him.

Well, if so many of you guys hate Ronnie, then go have fun listening to Craig and the new ETF, cuz they sound like whinny little bitches, I mean wow I agree with ronnie that he was the soul of that band, I saw the new ETF in concert, and yeah they were okay, but Craig is just faking out to be Ronnie! WTF I couldnt care less that they sang songs that Ronnie basically made famous, but they act like it a new f**king revolution!? You think Ronnie is full of himself? Listen to Max and Craig they are saying the same sh*t you dumbf**ks

Posted by: Hect on 12/16/08 at 12:39 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I love how every one wants to pity this guy just because he can sing. I guarantee you, if I was put in prison for this sh-t, none of you would give a flying f-ck. Just because he's famous and can sing doesn't make it ok. He was involved in a fight that wound up in someone dying, but you more than likely weren't there, so how can you say anything about how unfair it was that he was the only one charged?? People lie, yes, thats the way of the world, if he didn't do stupid sh-t like that, he wouldn't have to worry about people scumbagging him for a MURDER. If you ask me, he needs more time just for being a chronic f-ck-up. This sounds like some high-school bullsh-t anyway, "they called me up and said they were going to come to my house and murder me, and called me a pussy, and if I didn't show up and fight them...blah blah blah." I'm no stanger to fighting, but when someone sets up a fight, you have to be a royal f-cking retard to go in the first place. So why don't all of you sympathetic dumb asses open your eyes to the truth, he f-cked up, and he's paying the price. He doesn't deserve sympathy just because he can sing well. Big deal.

ok. so i think...that everyone is too far to one side. you're all on an extreme you know? so...here's what i think.

Ronnie f^cked up. He deserves jail.
Ronnie is an awsome singer! I personally love Escape the Fate.
Ronnie is addicted to drugs, and YES Max did do them with him and everything. Go to their band page and read Max's interview.

[[Please don't read one side and leave the other. If you want the truth and such, you have to look at all sides and weed out the lies]]

Ronnie getting out different? I agree, no one knows. This is something you have to wait for and see yourself. My personal experience? No..a lot of people i know have gone for years, or more than once, and still got on the drugs. But i do know a hand full who have changed. Especially when the probabtion stretches to more than a year or so.

I do think he was stupid to go over there in the first place, yes. But i also agree, that yes, it was the drugs. Drugs f^ck you up worse than...well anything! Yeah i've had my expierence, and i'm happy that i was smart enough to quit early, before it got addicting.

I'm sorry to all the fans of ETF, but have an open heart to the new lead, Craig. No HELL NO he's not ronnie, but I thank him for at least helping ETF stay together. I don't know where I'd be without that band. Yeah Ronnie's great...but he wasn't the only one who made up the band. Remember that.
And hell look forward to his new band coming soon! :] There's a lot of anticipation and things to come forth.

Like I said. You guys can't ride one side. You have to look at all the sides and see the whole picture. :]

P.S. [[ rjainswo, F^CK YOU. I know you have some celebrity or someone out there that you think is drop dead gorgeous or someone you keep tabs on and just want to be with. You can't blame these girls for making him their fantasy! And for you to be so hateful is just damn wrong! Please, they do not live in "singlewide trailers" ok? Get a life. Stop hating on people you don't know. Just because they don't share your opinion doesn't mean you can make assumptions!]]

Pss. [[ if you don't like ronnie, or think he got what he deserved, then please...stop reading about him. It's annoying to get on here and see how much you hate him and think he's such a waste of energy and time and whatever. he's obviously just as much the center of your world as he is ours.]]

Best part about my comment? I just found all of this out today O.o And i've got my sh^t more in line than most of you. Like i said, look at the picture, not just one side.

Well...at lease he KNOWS he has problems unlike other people who are druggies and are like "im total cool..im not messed up in any way.." I personally think it takes a lot more than jail to sort out problems,he's gonna need some therapy and even with that he wont be totally normal but at lease he'll be better than he was before.I have had my personal experiences with drugs and violence but i didnt get arrested because i quit with drugs before they got addicting and i quit with violence before i really hurt somebody so any one who is dissing his saying how hes never gonna get better and all that shizz than screw you...you need to be optimistic and if you dont like him then WHY ARE YOU HERE?? So take that and shove it up your a*s

Im not saying I don't like him, he's a great singer, I listen to the song My Apocalypse no less than 5 times daily. But its dumb to say that you think its unfair he's in jail and all of that s--t just because you like his voice. melissa1565, kudos, you made one of the most sensible posts on here.

thank you rjainswo. sorry for cussin you out. just kinda made me a little mad ha. but yeah. i just don't think everyone should stick strongly to one side you know? it's like. you f*ck up, you go to jail. simple. but i don't want to rant again lol. so thanks! you should totally find me so we can talk. i don't think commenting back and forth on here would be the greatest. i can't even cuss without editing it. ha

hmmm this is all so confussing
tbh i love ronnie so much, so who actually killed a guy? it sounds to me as if it was never ronnie and his friends faults and that it was the other guys who started it, hmm still so confussing, i wish he was still in escape the fate though, and he's a dick for all the drug uses but so is everyone for using them. whats the deal with max anyway?

I have to agree, people who have never had issues with any drugs or depression or anything for that matter don't have a right to talk about how and what Ronnie does. Eventually you get a chance to turn things around. This is a big chance for Ronnie. For people who are saying negative things about him, really, get a life. About the only way people could actually know what happened and what was said and what followed what was said is to have actually been there monitoring both sides of the situation. Now a days there's a lot of things said between everyone it's a cruel damn world out there. I understand what Ronnie is saying about sticking up for friends cause I've been there it got me in trouble too. Still to this day I hear from other people about how if I talk to this person again someone's going to kill me or a friend goes hey this kid says hes going to put me in the hospital can you help me? I'm not going to ignore it and any respectable person wouldn't either. Ronnie was just trying to take some pressure off his life and do what he thinks is right and someone got killed in the process. There's two kinds of people in the world, the hunters and the hunted and well sometimes the hunters aren't flawless and get caught...big deal.

Omar didnt leave cause "max punched him" some of the stuff in here, is pretty obvious he lied about. and theres things that max lied about. Nobodys a saint. I totally agree with melissa1565. But here. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fus... (omars new band) he stated that he didnt leave cause max punched him. People need to understand that Ronnie and Max hate each other now. And obviously, they are both making up lies to win over fans. Sure somethings they say are true. But. In the end. they are trying to get fans to hate the other. Honestly, listen to both their stores. And find the truth there. And like me. Dont take any side. You're just a fan. And you're there for the music. Not their personal lives.

f**k you haters commenting on this interview. Ronnie is the best singer for Escape the Fate. Escape the Fate doesn't even deserve to have this name now. turning their backs on this guy who pulled them together. f**k you back stabbing sh*t heads. all those people saying you could get out of this lifestyle that ronnie is in. you cant escape that life. you can escape the perfect lives you people have whenever you want. but you have no right to judge ronnie. he has mad mistakes so have you people. f**k you pieces of sh#t. if you are going to comment on something like this article hating ronnie and saying craig is better you are tools. craig stole his band and whines in their new album about chicks. he is a pussy. ronnie is actually good and has a whole life to back it up with. so f*ck you skeptics, who gives you the right to make judgement calls on peoples lives? so shut the f**k up. Ronnis is the best, when hes out he will come for you. and his new album will blow your brains out. thats the only smoking barrel he holds. you stupid people. f**k you all. c@nt bags. i can be neggative here cause i am backing someone up. who actually needs it. dearest damoxide21.

i think you should calm down. I don't think it's right for you to call people names just because they don't share the same opinions. especially when you're not even making a real point. yes Ronnie is amazing! we know that! or else we wouldn't check up on him. whether we're pissed at him or not.

but to call someone such names because we don't worship the very ground he walks on is ridiculous. please. get a hold of yourself. we don't call you names for your opinions. don't do it to us.

Who are we to judge. Everyone makes their mistakes. Have you spoken to both Ronnie and Max? What about the other people involved? No...therefore you have no right to judge them. Its complete crap that you guys would pick sides like that. I mean do you think they like getting publicly bashed, how would you like it if someone was hating on you all over the internet even though they don't know you? Chances are you wouldn't. Yeah he messed up, you've messed up somewhere in your lives too. Face it, hes just like you and me. So leave the poor guy alone.

No again chances you won't, ronnie and max are human and us sitting there choosing sides does not make this easier on them to be friends or to maintain a healthier relationship. Us as fans we do not know them personally so where do we get off picking over each member like we know them.

Alright ive read through these comments and ive seen a lot of people try and be hardcore with a key board and hate on Ronnie. No one knows what he is going to be like when he comes out. He could change he might not. He is only human and humans have flaws. I dont know what exactly happend because I wasnt there. but what I do know is that he is in jail now and he is serving time. Nothing can be done about it now. So people please stop glamorizing this. Its done, he is there, he will be out eventually. Weather he changes or not im sure he will still be an awesome person and an amazing musician so please people. Shut the f*** up and just let the guy do his time get out and not have tons of grief over this. although i know thats not going to be the case because people suck and always need someone to look down upon or try and defend. I hope at least one person can read this and realize that its not worth arguing about.

Ronnie ia a major hero to me. I know he's been trhough a lot, and mistakes were made. Not on purpose though, but it was an accident. Ronnie got kicked out of Escape the fate, (my favorite band) he was called a jerk, and s*** like that. But to me Ronnie Radke is a hero, and he probably is one to many fans oh his. I'm in so much hope of meeting this guy. Maxwell Greene is another one on of my hero, up until now. For kicking Ronnie out of the band, was a huge mistake. His voice is amazing, better then Craig's. Everyone balmed him for the death, it's not his fault that he sticks up for everyone. When i found out Ronnie went to jail, i went crazy, and wanted him out. I was willing to kill myself, but i didn't. I was in hope that Ronnie would come out and return to my favorite band ever. But no! Instead I found out me mdae a new band, "Behind these Walls." I started to cry then.
Ronnie made a new band, and he'll kick asses. The band will be ahit, and probably i'll gte ticket's to go see my hero smiling, and singing again. It would be amazing. Escape the fate is amazing. But i'm sure Behinf these Walls, will be way better. Like who would ever think Mabbitt, had an awesome voice in his old band "Bless the fallen."
I don't see why he'd ditch that band to take his friends spot. In escape the Fate? Ronnie stopped singing for a while, but i'm sure he'll be back up there to show everyone that he's back. And Ronnie would have sang "You are so beautful" Way better then Mabbitt. I love Ronnie, and i know Max would be bagging to have Radke back. I support Ronnie!
So all those bitches who think i'm a f***, could all go to hell. I love Ronnie, and he'll always be my hero. I love Ronnie a lot. GO TEAM RONNIE!

I recently just got into ETF. And I fell in love with Ronnie's voice in "Not Good Enough For Truth In Cliche," and he just made ETF who they were. Who else could possibly sing this song? Look back to their first video of the song. He was young and just was soo into the band. He's beautiful. I feel like I don't know them anymore. Without Ronnie, Max and all them don't exsist to me anymore. I love Ronnie, and I have from day one.
To me he seems innocent. He was called by a friend, and he didn't even start the fight he didn't pick it. He was just using self-defense. He said that they were doing drugs before that.
Max seems like a backstabbing basturd! How could he do that to Ronnie?
I just have this feeling like I know I don't know anything about him yet I feel where he's coming from. He doesn't deserve this. I wish that Max would of been in his place and be in jail. Cause of him he can't be in the band and he kicked him out for what he did. The lead singer is always the one that is missed most of the time.
There's so much more I probably could say but I just love him and I want all charges dropped.

Posted by: emocrackerjack on 4/10/09 at 1:40 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I am not going to pretend that Ronnie Radke is an angel- he is definitely the opposite. But, seriously, just because somebody does something less that innocent does not mean they have a heart of stone and deserve to rot in prison for the rest of their lives. Ronnie requested, without prompting, to go to rehab and get help. After he came out of rehab the first time, Max Green was doing drugs on the tour bus and practically waving them in his face. He even offered them to him. How could Ronnie, a recovering drug addict, resist? Before the fight, Ronnie was sworn at and taunted into fighting. Any guy would have gone to that fight under the circumstances. If you know any guy who would stand being called a pussy and a wimp and not do anything about it then you know men with no balls. The real problem through the whole thing is Max Green. I absolutely LOVED Max Green, but now I see he's just the annoying little prick who messes everything up for people, especially his best friend Ronnie. Ronnie always stood up for him and acted like a big brother and then Max just goes and stabs him in the back. Ronnie was confronted by the other guys in the fight in the first place because he stood up for Max when they were threatening to kill him. I think Ronnie deserves to be in prison for what he has done, but behind it all he's just a repentant victim who got high and acted like an idiot to protect his best friend.

ok first of all maxgreentruth person
you believe what max is saying is true but that's probably because you're hot for him or whatever basically this whole thing is max's word against ronnie's... but i believe everything that ronnie says is true, and for your information ronnie is THE founder of escape the fate and you said max had no choice but to kick ronnie out...did you even read the whole thing??!?!and look at the new singer he is totally copying ronnie's style!

anyways i support ronnie all the way! =]
i really hope he gets through this ordeal and form a new band so he can forget about his backstabbing friends/bandmates and show those bastards up. i love ronnie radke and i hope he makes it out okay =]

Okay I believe wat Ronnie is saying is true. Im a Ronnie fan 4ever. I still <3 Max and I think Craig is better in the band than Ronnie was, but Ronnie is still amazing. He didnt deserve what he was charged with. And all of you who are leaving comments about Ronnie to bash him...grow the hell up! So what if he got into drugs, got in a fight, and ended up in prison? He's still awesome and you people obviously have nothing better 2 do than hate on Ronnie because he screwed up. I can't wait until Ronnie gets out of prison and starts with his new band. Ronnie 4ever. Haters can go f*** themselves. Ronnie isn't lying and he won't be doing drugs anymore. Max is an a** but i still <3 him. <3 ronnie Radke, can't wait till he's back in the music1 :]

I think people have created this bad image of Ronnie, but most of them don't even know the true story. People need to grow up and get their facts straight before they start trying to say stuff about Ronnie. I can't wait untill he is out and back into our lives once more. I have faith that he will make a comeback that will amaze us. <3 Best of Luck ~ Liz

All of you haters are freaking retards! Ronnie's in JAIL. Don't you think if you were like Ronnie and you were sent to jail, you'd change? I believe Ronnie and I think Max and Craig can suck it. No one knows the story better than the one who witnessed it. And that happens to be Ronnie. I will never forgive Max for what he did to Ronnie and Omar. All you haters can go suck Max's and Craig's dicks.

Firstly, I want to start by saying that Escape the Fate have gone downhill since what happened to Ronnie and that Craig is balls. Im from the UK and I just want to say that people support Ronnie from over here aswell including me. I think that all the people who are talking bullsh*t about Ronnie are f*cking neeks and they are obviously people who enjoy reading interviews like this and giving sh*t comments based on their sh*t opinions of their sh*t lives. Im really looking forward to hearing some of Ronnies stuff that he has written in jail and i hope that maybe you can do a tour of the UK and come to London. It would be sick. You can't judge Ronnie on this one thing. Sure, he f*cked up but all kinds of that sh*t happens in the UK and most of the time its worse. People are only making a big deal of this because of his fame. Im all for Ronnie getting through rehab and I hope he comes out clean and don't say he can't because most peole do come out clean. I think he can make it through this and i look forward to seeing him live in London.

I believe everything Ronnie says. I'm not just saying it because I'm a fan or because I'm young. Somtimes you can hear lies in someones voice. judgeing by what he says in the interviw he is not bragging about what happend. Most my friends are druggies and get arrested almost every other day. I don't do that stuff. But My friends lie a lot and brag about how they get in trouble. I've helped some of them quite a bit but some will remain unstable. At least we know Ronnie is seaking help for his drug problem and is fixing for things he did wrong. Who hasn't done somthing wrong weither it was small or huge. For people who judge him because hes a rockstar and was arrested thats your own opinion if hes a liar or a killer or w/e or not. I'm stateing my opinion as well as anyone should be allowed to. So the end xP yeah. I'm so bored. X_X bu I wanted to find more out about what happend with Ronnie so ya. :P

I know, Im quite a bit late on the subject, but this is because I've been looking into everything that has been said about this case. (this is going to be a long ass comment, so get ready)
First of all- We all make mistakes, I think we've covered that much. No one is perfect, blah blah blah, we've heard this a million times. But what I dont understand, is why people say Ronnie straight up got what he deserves because he's the worst person alive and he's a murderer and all this other BS. EVERYONE deserves second chances no matter what. I think if we took the time to realize that everyone changes, we'd be more capable of understanding where others come from.
Second of all- No one knows for sure what happened that day, except for the people who were there. Im not taking sides, but Im going off opinion here. I hate Max. With a passion. Not because Im believing Ronnie 100% on everything, but because what Ronnie said, based off of Max's looks and attitude on some interviews that I've seen on various websites, it sounds like Max. He looks like a druggie, he acts like a druggie. But hey, so does Ronnie. Im sure most people in the music industry are druggies, because you know what? It's hard. With all the stress of what people think of you, whether you say you care or not, you do care. You care what people's opinions are of you. Every human being feels that way, whether you would like to deny it or not. And keeping up with what fans want to here, trying to impress and everything, it sucks to put it lightly. And usually, I wouldnt go based off of looks, but as stated before, his attitude in many interviews have lead me to think and believe what I do.

Posted by: LaraIsBeast on 6/10/09 at 4:18 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Third of all- Ronnie is an amazing vocalist, song writer, and I wish I could say person, however, I dont know Ronnie personally, and I cant stick up for him unless I were to. No one is a saint. Get that through your heads right now. Im going to agree with the person/people who said that pastors sin, priests sin, nuns sin, EVERYONE SINS. It's life. It happens. Everyone lies, everyone has their side of every story. Ronnie was falsely accused of what he was charged for. I dont care what anyone else has to say. Im sticking up for my opinion. If you pay attention to what Ronnie says, childish, yes, but logical, he went to the fight to stick up for Max. If you were in the position where you were getting harassed and your best friend for 9 years was being threatened, you'd run your ass down there and stick up for both yourself and your friend. Dont deny that. It was childish on both sides (Ronnie's and Michael/Marcel's) Michael/Marcel's because it's so SO stupid to call someone a pussy if they dont fight them. I mean really? That's something a MIDDLE SCHOOLER would say. Ronnie's because he actually went down to fight them. But we'd all make that mistake and yes, the drugs were hitting him pretty hard and that really threw him off course and when you're drugged up, you dont think straight and you cant say you do because seriously, drugs mess you the hell up.

Posted by: LaraIsBeast on 6/10/09 at 4:20 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Fourth of all- I think Ronnie should not be in jail for the crime he was falsely accused of. Hell I dont think he should be in jail at all. If you listened to Ronnie/Read the article, you'll see that the police were not straight on their story. Ronnie should be going to therapy weekly, and he should be in rehab, which he is/was. He's sober and getting along so much better than he was before. As far as the job thing goes, you have to understand that getting a job with a felony is EXTREMELY hard. And he tried, people, he tried, but he cant do anything if people wont hire him. He cant leave the state, he basically cant do anything. Try to relate to that, it may be hard, but think about it.

Fifth of all- Do you really expect that a CELEBRITY would be treated the same as a normal everyday person? No. You dont. Of course he's going to be treated differently. You cant change that. But that's definitely NOT what Ronnie wants. Even if it was, he cant change what other people do to/for him. That's what the people chose.

Now, Im gonna go based on my true feelings. Ronnie should not be kept from the public. AT ALL. To say the complete ad honest truth, even if I sound "emo" or childish or whatever the hell you would like to come up with to call me, his songs gave me closeure. They calmed me down when I needed to be. His voice is so soothing, and it really made me feel like someone out there could relate to anything that I felt and more. That may sound like total BS to you, but you know what, I. Dont. Care. This is MY opinion, not yours. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, emotions, and feelings. Ronnie does not deserve parole, house arrest, or anymore punishment. He's gone through more than enough and he's learned so much from it. Free Ronnie.<3

I believe every word out of Ronnie's mouth and anyone who thinks he is lying..prove it. If you say he did it and he's a liar etc. well you obviously don't know anything. And not to mention..Escape The Fate is NOTHIGN without him. Their mistake for kicking him out.. He was the only thing holding them together. I am no longer a fan of ETF.

Posted by: myshatteredreflection on 6/20/09 at 10:14 p.m. (Suggest removal)

All I can say is the lead singer of a band is the backbone the "star" when a lead singer leaves the band the band totally changes they will NEVER be the same band! For example I dont care if you like these bands or not i'm just using them to make a REAL GOOD POINT!!!!!!!
Example: Would the band "HIM" be the same band if Ville Valo decided to quit or in this case go to prison for a couple years? F*** NO!!! that band would be done, f***ing done! Or if "Craig Owens" of "Chiodos" left, would that band be the same if they replaced him with a new singer? NO F***ING WAY!!!!! Chiodos just recently lost their drummer Derrick Frost who was absolutly amazing, met him twice, nicest guy ever. But the band will not dramatically change beause he wasn't the lead singer.
My point is ESCAPE THE FATE is NOT the band it once was without Ronnie. Ronnie was the founder the backbone the star, he made ETF what they once were not what it is now. Craig Mabbitt is not the lead singer of Escape The Fate Ronnie is! Craig is the lead singer of Bless The Fall, and thats the way it should of stayed.

In response to "maxgreentruth":
You posted a link telling Max's side of the story, but you can't confide or rely completely on it. If you read it, you can see that it wasn't a real legit interview hence all the grammar and spelling errors. I haven't decided on where I stand cause honestly, it won't make any difference in my life or in any of your lives, but I could tell that his side was completely biased and that whole "interview" was his own doing. Let's just get over it and worry about what really matters. They can work out their problems without us shooting our mouths and making it more complicated, and we can work on our own problems.

He said he'd get out in December after a 4-year-sentence. i miss Ronnie i want him bak in Escape The Fate! Max and him r fighting now, ugh, this is just one big diassater. max and ronnie used to be like brothers, intill he went to jail now they're like the confederets and the union soldiers, brother fighting against brothers. i just miss him. i posted a blog on Good Charlotte.com for him, btw.

he was screwed up....everyone needs to realize that. His band turned against him and blamed everything on him because of the fact that he was screwed up that night and wasn't aware of his actions. Ronnie is not a monster, and some people need to take that into account. He made a mistake and he found out who his true friends were. Everyone makes mistakes and I am on his side because he didn't do it and he shouldn't be punished for something he didn't do. And for everyone who sits there and complains about him....why are you guys even commenting....you're wasting your time. You aren't going to change his fans' opinions on him, so its just useless to sit on here and comment if everything you say is negative. I LOVE RONNIE AND ALWAYS WILL!!! <3

i love ronnie radke!! just felt like saying that before anything else lol. while yes, its possible that he is not telling the whole truth in this interview, give him a chance! i heard escape the fates most recent stuff before the stuff with ronnie, and i think ronnie has a better voice. i also think that you should all just let this go, it doesnt affect you in any way, so leave ronnie alone. and of course a lot of people will be hating on craig because he is a replacement for ronnie, and all the people attached to ronnie arent going to like him. i like etf now but i think they were 1000x better with ronnie. ily ronnie <3

I think that everyone who is saying Ronnie is a bad person are bad people themselves. Chances are you don't even know Ronnie so it's not like you can say that about him. Everybody makes mistakes, but it's nice to know that when you do make a mistake, there's people there to stick up for you. And it's the same with Escape The Fate. Just because Craig ISN'T Ronnie, doesn't mean you need to f.ucking trash talk him all the time. If they hadn't have done something about not having a lead vocalist, Escape The Fate would not have survived. In my opinion, they did the right thing, ETF is still a great band, by the sounds of things, Ronnie needed some help and hopefully he can become a better person by making better choices. Don't get me wrong, f.uck, I love Ronnie, but I also love Max and Craig and Bryan and Robert, and of course, Omar. And just because Ronnie was better for the band, doesn't mean you need to hate on Craig. Ronnie helped found the band, but ultimately Craig helped save it. And all of you Craig-haters, just give him a chance. Stop comparing him to Ronnie at look at what HE brings to the band. I would rather have ETF with Craig than no ETF at all. By the way though, I LOVE RONNIE!!!! Can't wait to hear some of his new music!!! Hehe :D xoxoxo

Okay...everyone needs to get the f--ck off Ronnie's back! He has taken responsibility for his actions. And I do love Max too but what he did to Ronnie was f--ked up,you don't betray you're best friend like that. >_> He should be ashamed of himself. Ronnie admited he has done some wrong things before and he has admited that being in jail has made him learn some things. It takes alot to admit that you have done some wrong things in the past. He is an amazing and strong person. I LOVE YOU SOOOOO MUCH RONNIE hehehe! xoxoxoxo And you're new band Falling In Reverse is absolutly amazing! But I miss Escape The Fate when you were in the band ='( Yeah Craig is good but he will NEVER be like Ronnie..only in his dreams. I am defiantly TEAM RADKE! =D Keep up the amazing work Ronnie and congratulations on getting sober sweetheart!
Love Always Your #1 Fan,
Angela xoxoxo <3333

I love Ronnie....but. The fight may have started with Max not being on someones good side, but Ronnie fought. And I understand why. I'd fight too. As for the whole "Its Max's fault about the drugs" s**t people are pulling. It's not true. Max did drugs with Ronnie, but when it came time to straighten up...(Sad to say)Ronnie didnt. But lots of people have drug problems...So eff off of Ronnie! At least he's decided to straighten up(sure a little last, but whatever). At least he sees that he's done some wrong and is stronge enough to admit to it. Thats more than can be said about have the effing people in this world. As for his new band Falling In Reverse...AMAZING!!! Though I do miss him Escape the Fate. Craig is good, loved him in blessthefall, but he'll never be Ronnie Radke. Love you Ronnie!! Hope to see you live again!!
