Tiny Little Rant: Nevada is not prepared for swine flu
Thu, Apr 30, 2009 (midnight)
Sorry, but we have a bit of a tough time swallowing Gov. Jim Gibbons’ claim that Nevada is prepared for the swine flu, and has “standard operating procedures” in place. Let’s put aside for one second the fact that we nearly caused an outbreak of hepatitis C last year. But prepared for emergencies? How about last December? Eight inches of snow caused some of the more chaotic scenes we’ve seen in this Valley in the last few decades. If snowflakes catch us off-guard, we’re not ready for a few sniffles, let alone an outbreak.
