Nite Bite: DJ Hollywood says goodbye to Pure
Tue, Dec 15, 2009 (7:39 p.m.)
Parting is such sweet sorrow, but, eventually, there comes a time to move on.
After four years, resident DJ and Corporate Program Director for Pure Management Group Leandro Valstaris Jr., better known on the club circuit as DJ Hollywood, is out on his own.
"Pure and I separated," Hollywood told the Weekly Tuesday evening, just after the decision was finalized. "It was time. I'd been with Pure for a long, long time."
No need to shed a tear at the news, though. "Everything's great," he said. "I wish them the best of luck and they're going to do just fine. I'm going to miss everybody there."
Hollywood said his main focus at the moment is to bring BeatClan Artist Management to the forefront of the nightclub scene. As far as stepping behind the turntables, Hollywood says he's going to take the rest of the year off, play New Year's Eve out of town and do a bit of traveling.
But don't expect the 2009 Las Vegas Weekly reader's pick for best resident DJ to fade away. "I have some real big things on the table right now," he hinted, remaining mum about specifics at this point. "Look for me to get bigger and stronger. There's a lot of opportunities and 2010 is going to be really, really big."
Hmmm. Where might a really good resident DJ with a strong knowledge of music business go in Vegas? There are a few new venues opening... We've requested a postcard from wherever Hollywood lands next.
Hollywood gave the Weekly the official word Monday evening that he was was recruited by Frankie Anobile and Act 1 Productions to be a resident DJ at the new Eve Nightclub on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Hollywood will kick off the party at his new home on January 6 for his birthday bash. “It could be real trouble for any other local night deciding to make it on a Wednesday,” Hollywood says with confidence.
But if that wasn’t enough, Hollywood also scored a residency at Lavo, which will start in February. “I’m real excited about working with Tao Group because they’re one I haven’t worked with,” he says and hints that besides these two residencies, there’s still even more in the works for the local DJ.
