Suggestion box: Revive late night weddings
Wed, Jan 14, 2009 (midnight)
Las Vegas has to step up its game in the bride wars. Manhattan has launched a new marriage bureau this week to, basically, make it the wedding destination. How should we fight back? With a time clock. In 2006 Las Vegas stopped issuing marriage licenses after midnight. Officials said the graveyard shift only accounted for about 4 percent of its business. But when you’re fighting to remain Wedding Capital of the World, every bit helps. Maybe it’s time to revive the late-night licensing.
