- Touring Las Vegas, one music video at a time (4/10/09)
And that’s about the best thing I can say about Katy Perry’s newest video, “Waking Up in Vegas,” the latest risible Perry creation. The video hits all the usual suspects—Penn & Teller, the Palms ... yeah, there’s a quickie wedding with an Elvis minister. The whole thing has the sheen of a Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority spot, with limos, blackjack, craps, slot machines, the Fremont Street Experience, even a bowling alley all lovingly photographed. For those wondering, “What about poker?” don’t worry—Daniel Negreanu makes an appearance, too.

This empty exercise in obviousness won’t teach anything new about Vegas, other than that it and the vacuous Perry seem made for each other.
