Amen Corner: Some elected officials actually work!
Thu, Oct 1, 2009 (midnight)
And you thought your elected officials were all ethically challenged reprobates. Shame on you! Obviously some of them are still working their asses off—or should we say burros? That’s right, Congresswoman Dina Titus has successfully managed to get House Resolution 688 passed. Why is that important, you ask? Because it’s in support of National Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Day, that’s why. Now, we can hear a bit of grumbling as to whether this is the best use of our pols’ time, what with the recession and all. But you grumblers aren’t thinking this through. Now, when you find yourself homeless and your car gets repossessed, all you have to do is adopt a beast of burden to help you haul your stuff to the nearest shelter. Who needs a U-Haul? (Or, more to the point, who can afford one?)
