Tiny Little Rant: Gay “Rights”

Tiny Rant Image

We heartily applaud what we hope is just the first step toward our government’s acknowledging that it can’t legislate affairs of the heart by allowing the first domestic partnership certificates to be issued in Nevada last week. However, we also have some not-so-nice words for our voters, who voted overwhelmingly to pass a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage in Nevada. To allow same-sex couples “some” of the rights married couples share but still not allow them to be legally married is absolute chickenshit. Yes, we’ve made this segment of the populace happy by allowing them certain legal rights, but it doesn’t change the fact that 80 percent of our voters are small minds who will never accept them. In the Obama era of “yes, we can,” this smacks more of “yes, some of us can.”
