Ask Dead Elvis: Celeb quickies

I came across an article regarding the marriage of Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow. There wasn’t too much detail to it, but I understand they had one of those quickie Vegas marriages. Any more details as to where and when? Any other celebrities more famous that them who hooked up in Vegas?

Oh, those Vegas weddings! No waiting period or blood tests make it so damn easy to get hooked up on a whim—and the slew of chapels on the Boulevard makes it that much easier. The marriage between the Chairman of the Board and a pre-Rosemary’s Baby Mia occurred on July 19, 1966, at the now-defunct Sands hotel. It is not up to us reason why, but the marriage broke up just 21 months later.

As for a “more famous” wedding in Sin City, you are kidding right? What about my own marriage to Priscilla at the Aladdin back in ’67. Or for that matter my fake wedding to Ann-Margret in Viva Las Vegas?

If I have any rivals, I’d look at Billy Bob Thorton and Angelina Jolie for their quick hitch in 2000; the notorious hook-up of Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra just two years prior to that; and, of course, the most famous of them all—Tom Bailey and Alannah Currie of the Thompson Twins back in ’91.

Thank you very much.
