Greeting cards may not be the first place you look for gritty reflections of real life, but to Las Vegan Rafael Rivas, they’d become a little too disconnected from the world. So a couple of months ago he created Tattoo Cards, whose motto pits the company directly against the prevailing greeting-card mentality: “Because life isn’t just a pretty picture.” The punchy, street-influenced cards can be found in eight local stores (including Zia Records, Cash for Chaos, BKOZ, The Basement and Broken Leash) and at www.tattoocards.net.
