The weekend is here once again and so are the stars.
DJ Jazzy Jeff will kick things off this afternoon as he hosts what will be a pirate-themed edition of Ditch Fridays at the Palms.
The afternoon pool party is just the start of a weekend chock-full of high seas-themed fun at the resort: Ghostbar will be transformed into Davy Jones's Locker tonight for one of the bi-weekly Nine2Eleven open bar events (RSVP required, from 9 until 11 p.m.) sponsored by Malibu Rum. Yet as business returns to usual (read: cash bar) at Ghostbar, the party will just be getting going downstairs at Rain.
Jazzy Jeff will move his turntables from the pool deck and set up DJ shop inside Rain as he takes over DJ AM Fridays.
Tomorrow, the pirate theatrics will shift into high gear as what’s become an annual tradition, the Las Vegas version of Playboy magnate Hugh Hefner’s Midsummer Night’s Dream party, takes over the Palms Pool.
While Hefner won’t be there himself – and he’s not sending any of his girlfriends, past or present, this year, either – there will be no shortage of playboys at the pool.
Then-girlfriend Bridget Marquardt hosted the Midsummer Night’s Dream party at the Palms last year, but if she or any other notable Playboy personalities are planning on attending the event, officials are keeping details under wraps.
Still, the event is being held at the Palms, so there’s bound to be a bunny or two hopping around.
Also tonight, Los Lonley Boys and Los Lobos will play at the Hard Rock Hotel pool as part of the ongoing Friday Night Live summer concert series.
Meanwhile, E! News personality Giuliana Rancic will celebrate her 35th birthday tonight at Tabú at MGM Grand. The birthday girl’s husband, The Apprentice winner Bill Rancic, will join his wife for the party.
The pair have a new reality show, Giuliana and Bill, which airs on – surprise surprise! – E!.
The birthday celebrations will continue tomorrow as former Hollywood hot couple Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s daughter, Rumer Willis, turns 21 at Tao.
While the chatter concerning which parent or step-parents will join her for the party are nothing more than, ahem, rumors, at this point, there’s always a chance that both mom and dad will show, along with their new plus-ones, Ashton Kutcher and Emma Heming.
Things between Willis and Moore appear to be amicable, after all: Moore and Kutcher were guests at Willis and Heming’s wedding in Turks and Caicos earlier this year.
Also tomorrow, current IBF and IBO world flyweight champion Nonito “Filipino Flash” Donaire will take on Rafael "El Torito" Concepción at the Top Rank Pinoy Power 2 at the Hard Rock Hotel.
Meanwhile, The Cool Kids will be at LAX and The Veronicas will be at Pure.
Before that all happens, however, Whose Line is it Anyway alum and Venetian headliner Wayne Brady will celebrate the recently-inked deal to extend his residency at the resort next door, at the Palazzo.
The improv and singing sensation will also raise his glass to toast his new show on CBS, Let’s Make A Deal, during the afternoon pool party at Azure.
As the weekend comes to a close, the third high-profile pool party in three days will go down at MGM Grand.
And it won’t be just another afternoon by the pool at Wet Republic, as Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian are set to host the entire affair.
While organizers originally anticipated the event would focus on the famous sisters’ new reality show that premieres on Sunday night, Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami may be overshadowed by the eldest Kardashian sister’s recent news.
Kourtney Kardashian, 30, just days ago announced that she is pregnant and is expecting to deliver her first child in late December.
While the Kardashians are never ones to worry about remaining politically correct, chances are pretty slim that the mom-to-be will commit a pregnancy faux pas and drink anything alcoholic.
It also remains to be seen if the baby daddy, Scott Disick, will join the mother of his unborn child by the pool on Sunday.
Middle sis Kim Kardashian and younger socialite brother Brody Jenner are also unconfirmed as guests at the pool.
Jenner was recently in Las Vegas and partied all weekend at the Hard Rock Hotel with girlfriend Jayde Nicole.
(The two made a memorable appearance at Body English on Sunday when they made it rain fortune cookies.)
The lack of confirmed supporting siblings and potential in-laws means that Khloe Kardashian may have to make the most of the bottle service in their cabana.
Indeed, it will be yet another tough day in the life of the youngest member of the Kardashian sister trifecta and another boring weekend in Vegas.
As if a day at the pool with comped bottle service qualifies as hard work or as if there is such a thing as a boring weekend in this city.
